SUMMARY:TESOL-Ukraine ThinkLab — Autumn 2026
DESCRIPTION:TESOL-Ukraine ThinkLab — Autumn 2026\nBuilding an Ecosystem for English-Medium Learning\nOctober–December 2026 | Weekly online meetings\nLed by:\nMaryna Tsehelska — ILDA\, Interclass System\nOlena Ilienko — ILDA\, Nominalization\nHanna Podosynnikova —English Philology and Language Didactics\n\nApply now: https://forms.gle/Jr8ixPd4eL4h4Apw8\nOur Purpose\nThe TESOL-Ukraine ThinkLab is a professional learning\, collaboration and research ecosystem for Ukrainian teachers and teacher educators.\nOur long-term goal is to help Ukrainian educators prepare learners not simply to pass international English examinations\, but to use English successfully as a language of academic study\, CLIL\, professional communication\, mobility and lifelong learning.\nWe want to explore how Ukrainian learners can gradually develop a new English language worldview — the ability to conceptualise\, structure knowledge and communicate according to the conventions of English\, rather than simply translating from Ukrainian.\nThis requires more than teaching vocabulary and grammar. It involves developing new ways of:\n\n\n\tcategorising and connecting ideas;\n\tstructuring information;\n\texpressing relationships;\n\tinterpreting meaning;\n\tparticipating in academic and professional discourse;\n\tcommunicating across cultures.\n\nThe ThinkLab will bring together teachers\, teacher educators\, university academics and international colleagues to share expertise\, question existing practices\, experiment with ideas and build new approaches together.\n\nA Living Ecosystem\nThe ThinkLab is not intended to be a traditional course or a fixed research project. It is a living professional ecosystem in which teaching practice\, research\, collaboration and professional development continuously inform one another.\nPurpose\n→ prepare Ukrainian learners for international exams\, academic study\, CLIL\, continuing and further education in English\nPlatform\n→ a shared environment connecting teachers\, researchers and international experts\nLive Sessions\n→ weekly meetings\, presentations\, discussions\, masterminds and guest speakers\nZoom\nMaterials\n→ shared teaching resources\, maps\, frameworks\, tasks and research materials\nGoogle Drive\nDaily Discussion\n→ questions\, ideas\, classroom experiences and professional exchange\nTelegram\nCollaborative Research\n→ joint exploration of questions emerging from practice\nGoogle Docs\nRecorded Knowledge\n→ selected sessions and expert contributions available for continued learning\nYouTube — private/unlisted playlists\nRegistration & Community Data\n→ participation and programme organisation\nGoogle Forms\nReflection\n→ regular participant reflection and feedback\nGoogle Forms\nPublic Outreach\n→ sharing ideas\, outcomes and Ukrainian educational expertise with the wider professional community\nLinkedIn + Facebook + YouTube\n\nWhat will happen in the ThinkLab?\nFrom October to December 2026\, we will meet once a week.\nThe format will combine:\nTHINK — an idea\, concept\, problem or research finding\n↓\nSHARE — teachers and researchers contribute their experience\n↓\nDISCUSS — examine different perspectives\n↓\nMASTERmind — collaboratively solve a professional problem\n↓\nCREATE — develop a task\, framework\, map\, experiment or research idea\n↓\nREFLECT — consider what works and what should happen next\nWe will also invite international speakers and colleagues from abroad\, creating opportunities for Ukrainian educators to connect directly with wider European and international professional communities.\n\nAreas of Exploration\nWe deliberately do not define the ThinkLab through a limited list of research strands. The areas of inquiry will grow from the interests and expertise of the community.\nPossible starting points include:\n\n\n\tILDA and integrated literacy development;\n\tcross-linguistic conceptual restructuring;\n\tthe development of an English language worldview;\n\tnominalization and conceptualisation;\n\tidiomatic predicative constructions and spoken English;\n\tacademic and professional English;\n\tCLIL and English-medium education;\n\tinternational examination preparation;\n\tAI-supported teaching and learning;\n\tlanguage\, cognition and metacognition;\n\tcurriculum design and progression;\n\tteacher professional development.\n\nThese are starting points\, not boundaries.\nThe ThinkLab should allow new questions\, approaches and collaborations to emerge from the collective expertise of its participants.\n\nOur Professional Community\nThe ThinkLab will grow from the TESOL-Ukraine Community of more than 900 members\, including university representatives and ESP teachers from across Ukraine.\nThis provides an exceptional professional environment for:\npractice → discussion → experimentation → research → sharing → professional development\nOur ambition is to connect this Ukrainian professional network with European universities\, researchers\, teacher educators and international experts.\n\nThe Bigger Goal\nWe want to build more than a series of online meetings.\nWe want to create a sustainable Ukrainian ecosystem for English-language education — one that helps teachers continuously develop\, share knowledge and conduct collaborative inquiry\, while helping learners become prepared for a future in which English is increasingly the language of:\ninternational examinations → university study → CLIL → professional communication → mobility → lifelong learning\nThe ThinkLab is therefore both a professional learning space and a seedbed for future collaboration\, research and international cooperation.\n\n\nFrom preparing students to pass English exams\nto preparing them to learn\, work and participate internationally through English.\n\nTESOL-Ukraine ThinkLab — Autumn 2026\nOctober–December | Weekly | Think • Share • Mastermind • Create • Reflect\n\n \n\n
