This short introductory course was offered by TESOL-Ukraine for novice teachers and experienced teachers, who want to brush up their knowledge of ELT theory.
Course description: The course is an introduction to English Language Teaching and offers an overview of the field of language teaching and helps novice teachers develop basic classroom skills
Duration and Schedule: The course took place in October and November 2022, over a period of 8 weeks. Course Tutors: Sally La Luzerne-Oi and Maryna Tsehelska
Bio: Sally La Luzerne-Oi has taught EFL/ESL, French. and teacher training courses in the U.S. Mexico, Venezuela, Portugal, Japan and Ukraine. She currently works independently on short-term assignments. She coauthored Tell Me About It! a listening and speaking textbook, and a number of chapters and articles. In 1994 she joined Zirka Voronka and other American instructors to provide a Summer Institute on Current Methods and Practices in TESOL held in Vinnytsia and Kharkiv. Little did she know that the Ukrainian teachers and their students would capture a piece of her heart! As a result, she returned to Ukraine for the 1995-96 academic year and four more summers. She is co-liaison for the Hawaii TESOL/TESOL Ukraine partnership.
Maryna Tsehelska has a PhD in Philology, Associate Professor of the English Language and Methodology Department, Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University. she is an author of numerous articles and textbooks. Maryna Tsehelska is also greatly interested in methods of teaching a new generation of students, which she introduces and tests in the Educational Centre “Interclass”, where she is an owner and Director of Studies.
