On May, 12 2023 IX Forum for Young Researchers “RESEARCH AND EDUCATION IN THE GLOBAL WORLD: EUROINTEGRATION PROCESSES” was held by TESOL-Ukraine in cooperation with O. M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv online.
Book of papers:
The Forum was attended by 217 participants from 5 countries of the world (Ukraine, USA, Canada, Netherlands, Turkey) and 10 universities of Ukraine. Educators from the USA and Canada – Sally La Lucern-Oi, ESL/EFL teacher and teacher trainer, member of Board at TESOL Hawaii (USA); Dr. Ruslana Westerlund, Associate Adjunct Professor, College of Adult and Professional Studies Graduate School of Education, Bethel University, Saint Paul, Minnesota (USA); Oksana Tarabanovska, Assistant Professor, ESL Coordinator, Department of Education,Concordia University, Montreal (Canada) were invited to be members of the Organizing Committee of the Forum.
The subjects discussed at the Forum were:
- Contemporary Issues of Democratic Society Development. Democracy through Law.
- Innovative Trends of Management and Tourism Business Development.
- Modern Developments of Economics and Financial Security.
- Latest Achievements in Engineering, Ecology and Architecture.
- Language Studies. Innovative Methods оf Teaching English аt Higher аnd Secondary Educational Establishments.
Objectives: The Students Forum had the following objectives: a) To create a platform for students to present and discuss their research in the fields of TESOL and urban economy. b) To foster academic collaboration and networking among students, educators, and professionals. c) To provide an opportunity for participants to enhance their knowledge and skills through workshops and presentations. d) To explore the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the fields of TESOL and urban economy.
Activities: The Students Forum encompassed a range of activities designed to engage participants and promote active learning. The key activities included:
a) Research Paper Presentations: Students were invited to submit their research papers related to TESOL or urban economy. A selection of papers was chosen for presentation during dedicated sessions, allowing participants to share their findings and receive feedback from experts in the field.
b) Workshops: Interactive workshops were conducted by experienced professionals to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in various areas of TESOL and urban economy. Topics covered included effective teaching strategies, urban planning, sustainable development, and economic policies.
c) Panel Discussions: Experts from academia and industry were invited to participate in panel discussions on current issues and emerging trends in TESOL and urban economy. These sessions provided a platform for insightful conversations and the exchange of diverse perspectives.
d) Networking Opportunities: The forum facilitated networking among participants, allowing them to connect with peers, educators, and professionals. Informal networking sessions were organized during breaks, enabling fruitful discussions and potential collaborations.
Outcomes: The Students Forum yielded several positive outcomes:
a) Knowledge Exchange: The research paper presentations and panel discussions facilitated the exchange of ideas, research findings, and best practices among participants. This contributed to the enrichment of knowledge in the fields of TESOL and urban economy.
b) Skill Enhancement: The workshops provided valuable insights and practical techniques for students to enhance their teaching and urban planning skills. Participants gained new perspectives and strategies to address challenges in their respective fields.
c) Networking and Collaboration: The networking sessions offered participants the opportunity to build connections with fellow students, educators, and professionals. These connections may lead to future collaborations, research partnerships, and career opportunities.
d) Increased Awareness: The forum exposed participants to the latest trends and developments in TESOL and urban economy. The discussions and presentations shed light on pressing issues and potential solutions, raising awareness among the attendees
The Forum provided participants, students from all around Ukraine, with the opportunity for professional and interpersonal communication, obtaining information about international programs, student exchanges, trainings and projects that are carried out in the difficult time of war.
