Webinar 4: Low Stress High Impact Materials for Fostering English Fluency

Abstract: A common lament among EFL teachers is not having the time, energy, or resources to create communicative, fluency-building activities that fit, engage, or challenge their students. As it is with so many of life’s dilemmas, however, one solution may be, literally, sitting right in front of us. This workshop explores ways our students can become materials developers, not only for today’s lesson but for the lessons and students we teach next year and beyond.

Bio: Jean Kirschenmann has taught EFL, ESL, and teacher preparation courses in China, Japan, Micronesia, Romania, and the U.S. state of Hawaii, where she is the TESOL Practicum Coordinator at Hawaii Pacific University. She is descended from German-speaking farmers who raised wheat, for several generations, in today’s Moldova-Ukraine border region before emigrating to North America in the 1890s. Jean is co-liaison for the Hawaii TESOL/TESOL Ukraine partnership.
